Vintage Glider Memories

When I was a little girl my gandmother had a glider in her backyard.
We would go out and sit in it early in the morning...
Listening to the mockingbirds sing in the trees overhead.

My grandmother, being the wonderful woman that she was,
would make up stories of what the mockingbirds were singing to us

I never hear a mockingbird sing...

or see a vintage glider...

...that I don't think of her and her love for me.

This is my vintage pie crust glider just waiting for a paint job.

What color do you think would make her sing?

I'm thinking maybe a blush pink...?

  1. How wonderful to have those special memories of time spent with your grandmother, Janie. You found a beautiful glider. I think blush pink would make her very happy. ;-)
Have a wonderful rest of the week!

p.s. The vintage black letter tiles were part of a game, but I'm not sure which one. I bought them from Maria of Urbanfarmgirl... maybe she would know. :)

  2. My grandma had that same green & white one, actually it might still be sitting on her front porch. I remember my brother and I would play on it and we'd get in trouble for being too noisy thanks to the awful creaking that it always made...it probably just needed some WD40 now that I think about it :)

  3. I have fond memories of my Nana's glider as well. I still remember the sound that it made and how my feet didn't reach the ground. Blush pink is my favorite color so I would vote for that!

  4. Awesome.I would so love to have one of those.ANY color would be grand.Enjoy.

  5. Lucky you--it will be pretty special no matter what color you choose. I would love to find one! Patty

  6. I think robins egg blue and white in the middle. Nice find.

  7. I adore the glider!! My in-laws had one on their front porch and now my sis-in-law has it. I would love to find a vintage one, yours is going to be beautiful!! Hugs, K

  8. I have special memories of gliders from my childhood, too. I don't think you could go wrong with any color you painted it. The memories will be precious regardless. ;)

Thanks for linking to the party. I would love to have you join me each week. Be sure to stop by and see yourself featured (tonight, perhaps tomorrow).

By the way, I just joined you as a follower.
