Entry Makeover

Welcome.
This is our front entry.
Very nice...but plain...and not very inviting.
This is what it looked like when we
purchased the house last summer.
The black color worked with the brick, but
I felt like it recessed the door visually.

We love the front door.
It had wonderful potential.
It's hard to see in the pic
but the windows are leaded clear glass.
They catch the light as it comes in
and play with it on the entry floor.
LOVE it!

I had been considering several colors.
Delft blue...
salmon pink...
rust...
chinese red...
What to do? What to do?
Then I saw Cindy's door...

over at
My choice was made.
I knew exactly what I wanted.
Blue Eyes was not nearly as certain...
the idea had to grow on him.
The color I chose was
Olympic brand Mexican Moonlight.
A gorgeous Salmon Pink Satin.

Then we added a new brass Baldwin handset.

bronze Majestic Grape Urn Plaque

... Added ferns in urns
(in my best hip hop sing song, lol)
at each side of the door

...and gorgeous pink toned Caladiums

...some pink impatiens

... a new L.L. Bean waterhog
doormat in a charcoal leaf pattern.
Love, love, LOVE this doormat!
As long as they make them,
I'll never buy anything else.

We put a fresh coat of black paint on the
iron bench and added a welcoming flag.

Violi!

We still need flowers in the wall planter.
May have to do silk...
everything keeps frying from the heat on that wall.

We'll be adding a Japanese Maple
on the right center bed soon

and a climbing pink rose...
Eden maybe...by the welcome flag.

You can't see them in the pics...
they are hidden behide the Liriope...
but we have planted fragrant Star Jasmine
to the left of the walk by the wall.

Once mature they should fill in that wall like this...

I have two more items I want to add
but they'll have to wait for now.
I'd like this ironwork from
Ballard Designs over the door...

...and something very similar to this on it.

Now our entry says
"Welcome.
We are glad you came to see us."
I'm liking this...

...Much better than this.

What do you think?

  6. Wow! What a change! I am also loving the Ballard Initial thingy. I would love to hang it on our home but I am afraid the HOA would have a few words with me if I did.

  9. I love your pink door and beautiful flowers. It looks so welcoming. Yes, the iron scroll over the door will be great. You might consider adding a cushion to your black iron bench...just a thought. It's all so pretty.
